Animating A Short Story in Powerpoint
The Thirsty Crow.
The story of the Thirsty Crow was something that I grew up with in India. And I learned later in life, it is a pretty universal story that teaches kids and adults the lessons of persistence, hard work, and smart work. As MoralStories.org calls out:
Moral: Think and work hard, you may find solution to any problem.
I am not going to touch upon why I did it, but I wanted to animate a well known short story. And, “The Thirsty Crow” came to mind immediately. I had no intention of spending any money on the Adobe Creative Suite. But I do/did have a personal M365 subscription, and PowerPoint installed on my Mac. Moreover, I have had some experience with using animations and inking on Powerpoint for Mac — but for slide decks at work. I figured that this was just a short story, and so, I rolled up my sleeves and produced this:
I have to say, I was pretty proud of myself! “Well done me!”
In fact, I was/am so excited by the prospect that Powerpoint could help me do this — and I cannot draw to save my own life — that I decided to share the deck that i used to create the video above. Here goes the powerpoint deck:
I legitimately doubt that anyone will find it useful. And I do think that this is all trivial.
But I do find it remarkable. 🤩
Hope you enjoy the video! 🪶
